Infrastructure Engineer
Our Central Virginia based client is seeking a highly collaborative, team-oriented Infrastructure Engineer.

- Hybrid Role (2 days in office)!

The Infrastructure Engineer role will be responsible for developing and maintaining system networks and the associated equipment. This role is responsible for understanding network technologies and the integration of those technologies to create a secure and efficient networking environment. This role also includes working closely with technology vendors where necessary and ensuring that all changes through those vendors are monitored for timeliness and completeness.

POSITION SUMMARY:

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Manage firewalls, switches and routers in the main office and remote offices.
  • Troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues.
  • Deploy network configuration changes and software upgrades.
  • Test and update network disaster recovery procedures.
  • Troubleshoot network security issues including Firewall, IPS threat-detection and VPN issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to Desktop support team
  • Work in a hybrid environment including on-site and from home
  • Work with Infrastructure Co-Managed Services Provider and vendors.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems / Computer Science / Business or equivalent
  • 4 Years Information Systems experience in Infrastructure Administration
  • Exceptional knowledge of networking technologies (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
  • Familiarity with Firewalls, routers, switches, and network administration.
  • CCNA, CCNP, Cloud Infrastructure, XAAS

MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Working knowledge of networking technologies and requirements
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Ability to create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • In depth understanding of security controls and configurations for network components
  • Strong Security focus and awareness to ensure network environment is secure.
  • Ability to work with all levels of IT staff inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, and face-to-face).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experienced with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, Firepower and Meraki routers, switches and WAPs.
  • Familiarity or experience with SDWAN
  • Familiarity with Citrix, VMWare, and SAN technologies
  • Experience maintaining and monitoring Wide and Local Area network.
  • Working knowledge in the following:
    • BGP & EIGRP support
    • IPSEC and SSL VPNs configuration and support
    • Layer 3 switching support
    • VLAN configuration and support
    • Wireless (WCS) maintenance and support
